Nurse: what to know

A nurse provides care on medical prescription or within their own scope of practice, including wound dressings, injections, blood tests, treatment support and health monitoring. They work in practices, at home or in care settings, and advise patients and their families.

When to book an appointment

• Wound care or dressing changes after an operation
• Injections or blood tests prescribed by a doctor
• Help and care at home after a hospital stay
• Regular follow-up of a long-term condition such as diabetes
