Psychologist: what to know
A psychologist supports people facing emotional, relational or behavioural difficulties. They carry out consultations and psychological assessments and, if recognised as psychotherapists, provide psychotherapy for children, adolescents, adults, couples or families, adapting their approach to each person's situation.
When to book an appointment
- Anxiety, stress or worries lasting for several weeks
- Persistent low mood, lack of energy or motivation
- Relationship, couple or family difficulties in everyday life
- Difficult life events such as bereavement, separation or burnout
Costs in Switzerland
Since July 2022, psychotherapy provided by a recognised psychologist has been covered by basic health insurance (LAMal/KVG) when prescribed by a doctor.
