Plastic surgeon: what to know

A plastic surgeon performs reconstructive, restorative and cosmetic surgery. They treat the after-effects of accidents, burns or cancer and congenital malformations, and also advise on requests to change one's appearance, always following an initial consultation to inform and assess.

When to book an appointment

• Breast reconstruction after treatment for breast cancer
• Scars or after-effects of burns or accidents to correct

Costs in Switzerland

Medically justified reconstructive surgery may be covered by basic health insurance (LAMal/KVG), often after prior approval; purely cosmetic procedures are paid for by the patient.
