Psychotherapist: what to know

A psychotherapist supports people facing psychological, emotional or relationship difficulties through structured conversations. Depending on their approach, for example cognitive behavioural, systemic or psychodynamic, they help you understand what you are going through and develop resources to cope with it more effectively.

When to book an appointment

• Persistent anxiety, stress or panic attacks
• Low mood or a lasting loss of interest
• Difficulties in your relationship, family or working life
• Needing support after a bereavement or difficult event

Costs in Switzerland

Since July 2022, psychotherapy provided by a recognised psychologist psychotherapist is reimbursed by basic health insurance (LAMal/KVG) on medical prescription, within a regulated number of sessions.
