Dermatologist: what to know
A dermatologist is the specialist doctor for the skin, hair, nails and mucous membranes. They diagnose and treat skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis or acne, and check moles to help detect skin cancer early.
When to book an appointment
- A check of moles or a suspicious mark
- Acne, eczema or psoriasis that will not settle
- Itching, redness or an unexplained skin rash
- Hair loss or problems with your nails
Costs in Switzerland
Medical consultations are covered by compulsory basic health insurance (LAMal/KVG); purely cosmetic treatments are generally not covered.
